Center for Joint Surgery of Southwest Hospital Successfully Holds the Hip Revision Master Class

With thorough early preparation, the Hip Revision Master Class sponsored by the
Center for Joint Surgery of Southwest Hospital was successfully held in the
Southwest Hospital on September 15-16, 2014.
The 12 students participating in this class were senior surgeons from various
provinces and cities with rich joint replacement surgery experience, therefore,
the focus of the training class emphasized more on clinical practicality and
surgical skills.
According to the trait of the trainees, Professor Liu Yang and Dr. Guangxing Chen
from the Center for Joint Surgery were fully prepared and very carefully while
lecturing. The theoretical contents included perioperative assessment of revision,
removal and preparation of acetabular and femoral stem prosthesis during the
revision, assessment and reconstruction of bone defect during the revision,
revision of infected hip joint, complications and treatment of THA revision, etc.
In addition to theoretical study, the class also prepared practical contents for
the trainees, including demonstrating the students a live broadcast of a hip
revision surgery and a hip replacement surgery, surgery review and surgical case
discussions, etc.
Participants generally agreed that this class had improved their theoretical level
and practical ability, which had created a chance for them to improve their hip
revision skill.
