The 2014 National Advanced Training Class on Theory and Operation of Ankle Arthroscopy Is Successfully Held

On the basis of the success convening of the National Advanced Training Class on Theory
and Operation of Ankle Arthroscopy for 4 consecutive years, the Center for Joint
Surgery of Southwest Hospital, which is also the arthroscopy training base assigned
by the National Ministry of Health, once again successfully held the 2014 National
Advanced Training Class on Theory and Operation of Ankle Arthroscopy on November
1-3, 2014. The class had attracted wide attention, with 30 students from all over
the country participating in this event, most of whom were the director, deputy
director and senior surgeon of their hospital. Therefore, the focus of the training
emphasized more on clinical practicality and surgical skills.
Professor Liu Yang, Associate Professor Xiaojun Duan from the Center for Joint
Surgery, and Associate Professor Wei Chen from the Department of Radiology provided
wonderful lectures for the participants. The main contents included ankle
arthroscopic surgery, anatomical basis of ankle surgery, imaging diagnosis of ankle
disease, preoperative preparation of arthroscopic surgery, ankle arthroscopy of
chronic synovitis, ankle arthroscopy of ankle joint tuberculosis, ankle
impingement syndrome treatment and ankle arthroscopy equipment and maintenance,
etc. All the students were divided into two batches for Workshop operation, allowing
all access to practical experience. Live broadcast of 3 sets of ankle arthroscopic
surgery performed by the Associate Professor Xiaojun Duan were given as the surgical
demonstration, explaining the surgical process and operational details, which had won
the praise of the students.
