Professor Steven B. Haas, Director of Knee Replacement in Hospital for Special
Surgery (HSS) in Cornell University and Visiting Professor of the Third Military
Medical University, will visit the Center for Joint Surgery of Southwest Hospital
for academic exchange on May 15, 2015. Case discussion and topic lectures on knee
joint will be accordingly given.
HSS, an Evergreen University member with 150 years of history, is located on the
east coast of Manhattan and is the nation钬荣 largest joint surgical medical
center. It is the world famous bone and joint specialist hospital, including
joints, spine, hand, trauma, ankle, tumor, sports medicine. In 2014, the hospital
completed more than 10,000 cases of joint replacement surgeries.
Professor Haas is an Orthopedic Professor at School of Medicine, Cornell
University in New York and the Chairman of John N. Insall College of Knee
Replacement, and the director of College of Knee Replacement in HSS. In 2005,
Haas was selected as chairman of the Knee Association due to his marvelous
contribution in this field. At present, Professor Haas is mainly engaged in the
clinical work and related research of knee joint degenerative disease, involving
in the study of knee replacement tissue defects, serious loosening and other
related fields. Over the past 10 years, he has more than 50 SCI papers published
and edited 18 knee joint books. As a established scholar, Haas has been invited
to give presentations at various international academic conferences.
The invitation of Professor Haas to visit Southwest Hospital and conduct academic
exchanges will further improve our level of knee replacement and promote the
clinical and scientific exchanges between Southwest Hospital and HSS, thus
building the joint surgery as an influential professional discipline.
